Rediscovering the wisdom of human nature by Chet Shupe has a thought-provoking message that only spiritual wealth can satisfy the hunger of our souls. Chet Shupe emerged from A D D (Attention Deficit Disorder) with a unique perspective on the human condition. Because of which his curiosity began to explore the existence of feelings, emotions, beliefs, and how it all relates to the happiness and wellbeing of humanity. In this book, the author explains how civilization has destroyed the basic thing which everyone craves- happiness. Chet Shupe has beautifully described that only by being true to our emotional nature we can be happy.

What I like the most is his insightful and detailed writing. As a person of feeling and intuition, the author bolsters every conclusion with logic and compelling examples. With such a simplicity he calls emotional programming “The Law of Life: To serve life, do things that feel good, and avoid doing things that result in emotional pain.” I loved this phrase very much and it concludes the author’s message remarkably.

Despite I like the book very much, some grammatical errors were annoying while reading the book. But to look at the bigger picture, it can be neglected as the author’s message is crystal clear.

This book is for everyone who is in search of happiness or who is suffering from emotional pain. This is not the kind of book to skim, you have to stop and think about the things which the author is trying to tell you. It has strong spiritual and philosophical essence. Do not expect any guide or worksheets to work for rediscovering your human nature. As the author says: A part of relearning is remembering that this intelligence was born into us so that we can take care of life — not control it! So by the end of the book, you will uncover and understand every aspect of the book which Chet is trying to say. Also, you will be able to figure out what is the reason for your suffering and how to go about it.

I would rate this book four out of five as this book showcases fantastical but unsubstantiated theory. You will learn so much about life before civilization, how civil rule had destroyed humankind, spiritual connection with oneself, emotional suffering, how belief system is limiting our true potential, the need for interdependence, etc. And at last, remember ‘We don’t need a formal education to be happy. We’re born with everything we need to know – a phrase from the book.
