‘The SECOND Language’

I entered the meeting, and a tall, European man greeted me.

We discussed the topics with little difficulty as he was not very good with English and I didn’t know his language.

We somehow managed the discussion.

While I was gathering my stuff, he gave a friendly suggestion.
“You should learn a second language, you see. It will help you”, he said.

I replied with a smile, “ I already know a second language and am good at it. The one I am speaking in — because my first language is ‘Hindi’.”

We shook hands and went for lunch together.
