What is COVID-19?

COVID-19 is the acronym for Corona Virus Disease 2019, which first broke out in December 2019, in Wuhan, China and has since spread to over 140 countries. There are several Corona Viruses, of which SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) and MERS (Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome) are of the same family. COVID-19 is also known as the Novel Corona Virus because it is a new strain of the coronavirus family. It is also known by the name of the virus causing the disease, SARS-Cov-2.

Not much is known about this virus because it’s new.

One thing is clear: COVID-19 is highly contagious and deadly if precautions are not heeded and adhered to. As at the last count (March 24, 2020) over 18,250 lives have been lost around the world.

What’s the source of COVID-19?

In the early days of this disease, there were unsubstantiated postulations of the disease emanating form a market in Wuhan, China. Then there are many conspiracy theories, which can be filed under “myths” and which should not be given a voice.

Some Christians have attributed the virus to Satan. I wouldn’t be so quick as…
