It’s funny how the world can change in the blink of an eye. One day you’re worried about traffic and what you’re going to do over the weekend, the next day you’re planning a funeral. Suddenly traffic and what movie you’re going to watch aren’t such a big deal. We’re traveling through one of those periods on a global scale right now.
Usually, when something happens like this, it’s a personal or regional disaster. The death of a parent or loved one is one of these events; maybe an earthquake or a terrorist act might be a larger version of this. However, the current pandemic is something unprecedented for our time, but not completely unprecedented.
I remember hearing stories from my parents and other older people about the Great Depression. I’ve also watched and read a great deal about World War II. Societies throughout time have been pressed with great struggles. Likely this struggle is fraught with its share of pain and sacrifice.
