Do You Know Where You’re Going?
You don’t need perfect plans
When you turn the page to a new year, you may look ahead to see twists in countless directions and hope that you get to the destination. That is both part of the fun and the journey. At least for me.
But how do you know where you’re going when the year feels like a blank slate? This isn’t about reinvention or pressure-filled goal-setting. It’s about navigation — finding a path that feels true to you — and it should be personal and different for every person.
Instead of chasing after distant “shoulds,” what if we leaned into curiosity? Here are three questions I’ve asked myself:
- What excites you? That quiet thrill might be a signpost worth following.
- What feels heavy? Maybe it’s time to set down what no longer serves you.
- What matters deeply to you right now? My answers to those questions became my guide.
After ending last year chasing two new teaching certifications, accomplishing both, and pausing to reflect, I’m ready to embrace this year with focused intent.
Over the weekend, I read two books because I wanted to. Yes, please, more of those kinds of activities this year.
