Does Summer Throw You Off-Balance Too?

A little normalcy, please.

Now that summer is officially here, it’s quite an adjustment. Sure, it’s nice to stay up late and binge-watch your favorite show, and as nice as it is to have less structured time, go on spontaneous adventures, and sometimes do absolutely nothing.

Perhaps you get the opportunity to do something you’d usually not do. For the past few years, when my kids get out of school, they’ve chosen a new, wild hair color for the fun of doing so. Pink, purple, blue…

It’s hair, and there are worse things they could be doing.

As enjoyable as these activities are, the lack of a routine can leave us feeling unanchored and a bit chaotic.

My daughter asked me, “Mom, why are you being so productive; it’s summer?”

Well, for me, summer is the opportunity to do some of the things I haven’t gotten around to doing. Last Christmas, I threw the tree through the wall. My husband promptly repaired the damage, but we hung coats and hats on the hooks by the door, and I haven’t gotten around to repainting the tiny area.

Last week, I finally got around to repainting the wall. Soon, I plan to clean out the dryer vent. Hopefully, there will be no DIY repair projects as a result.
