First Summer Morning

Year’s first summer morning has arrived
In dark of balcony for my morning writing,
Flowered sentinels in multicolored garden
Hydrangeas, geraniums and yellow pansies,
Waiting for sunfires’ openings in rising sun.

Inhaling breaths of morning’s light air
Body caressed gently by tender breeze,
Feelings of vibrancy and mind is alert
While looking forward to afternoon hike
Along craggy banks of calm Rock Creek.

Feeling warmth while sun rises higher
Golden rays stretching across blue sky
Distant horizons now become clearer,
Imagining travels through great beyond
Explorations made in my nightly dreams.

Watching sunfires beginning to open
Revealing centers blooming in beauty,
Wondering what miracles hours might bring
Basking in sunlight of first summer morning.
