A movement of awareness & solidarity shifted the sludge to the surface
Don’t tell women to accept this, to move on, and to put on a happy face. We don’t need the tone police coming in to tell us how to feel. We need the space to feel it. All of it. The confusion. The disappointment. The rage.
From #MeToo to “Me First”
We went from the #MeToo movement to putting a convicted r*pist in the White House not once, but twice. What happened to “believe women”? What happened to holding men accountable?
Misogyny happened. Racism happened. The country voted and just over half of Americans decided to uphold white supremacy and the patriarchy rather than step forward into a future filled with integrity and hope. This isn’t one step forward and two steps back. This is one baby step forward and then turning to run and leap off the f*cking cliff.
We are not overreacting. We’re reacting to a reasonable expectation of what’s to come. We saw the reversal of Roe. We’ve seen women dying as a result of it. We are waiting, watching, and preparing for the worst.
