It’s springtime in the desert. That means that LIFE is coming back into the plants that have been dormant over the winter.

Life —

God’s Word is life

As the rain and the snow come down from heaven,

“so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it (Isaiah 55:11, NIV)”.

As I read this verse I heard these words

flourish, multiply, grow, penetrate, nourish.

The rains of Arizona have brought new life to the desert making it bud and flourish. The cacti suck up the moisture to store for dry times to come.

God’s Word is life

It changes lives.
It establishes peace.
It guides.
It produces fruit in our lives.
It brings colour and vibrancy.

God tells us:

“Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants (Deuteronomy 32;2, NIV).”

And unlike the earth’s plants, God’s Word stands forever.

“The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever (Isaiah 40:8, NIV).”

I have painted this scripture before. I have studied it before.

God’s Word is life

God gave up His Son so we could have life — abundant life.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1, NIV).”

God has given us the Word — so we may have His promises, strength, comfort and power.

God’s Word is life

We want to be a people who follow You, Lord.
Our desires — we want them to be in step with Your desires.
We want to GRASP Who You are more tightly than before.

God tells us that there will be factions, discord and strife. But He says His Word is life through all things.

God’s rain comes down to water our minds, body and spirit.

It’s Holy Spirit rain.

What does that mean — Holy spirit rain?

8 ways to attune yourselves to God and find abundant life

  1. Prayer: Start a regular prayer life. That could be a specific time. Or calls to prayer by listening to God.
  2. Seek God: Let’s show that we to relate to others and how we listen to God to help change our lives. Are you acting the way Jesus would say is a growing way? Are you bringing new life to others? Are you seeking new life for yourselves?
  3. Read the Bible: That means regularly and think about what you read. Let God speak to you through His Word.
  4. Community: Seek other believers — in church, in homes, on the Net. You could read posts and meet other believers at Koinonia Publication.
  5. Fast: In this time of Lent, we often think of fasting from food. Good ideas include sugar (that means reading labels). But think of fasting from other things: Social media, excess purchases, sinful desires to name a few.
  6. Repent: It’s a good time to look at your life and see if God is talking to you about repenting for any big or small misdemeanour. Are you hearing from Him? Don’t turn away.
  7. Meditate: This word “meditate” has been given a bad name in Christian circles — but it means to sit quietly with God — dwell on Him. Let Him fill you with His thoughts, His comfort, His strength and His inspiration.
  8. Declutter: In this age of bombardment — on every side, declutter your homes, your minds, and even your relationships. Make all things clean and new. Make them simple.

How are you doing in learning to live an abundant life, full of promise, comfort, strength and joy?

I hope these help you in some small way to seek God more.
