Maybe Mediocrity Is the Whole Point
I’m tired of the ‘hustle culture,’ and maybe you should be, too.
From the moment I turned eighteen, I knew I wanted to be someone big in life. My family came from the middle class, and we had the usual limitations and struggles, like bills to pay, not having many things because we couldn’t afford them, and simply being happy with what we had. But I felt like there was more to life than working a job every day and paying off loans until you were old. For this reason, I decided to work hard as soon as I could.
At first, I worked and studied at the same time, holding a full-time job from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., followed by classes from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. I barely had any time for myself, but I knew it was a sacrifice to build something bigger in the future. When I finished college, I began working at several places simultaneously. All the money I made went into my savings; I almost never took any money out for myself. My goal was to save enough to be a great investor.
When I discovered side hustles, my life became even busier. I started getting up at 5:00 a.m. to maximize my time, and there were days when I would leave my work chair to go straight to sleep.
