Megyn Kelly Transforms “Star System”

Megyn Kelly poked “untouchables” at Fox and NBC. She’s making news with a “network of her own making,” a case study for the writers, artists and other creatives.

Like many freelance writers and “solopreneurs,” Megyn Kelly left jobs at big networks and is now working from home, close to three young kids. She’s making national news by doing it differently.

In the old Hollywood “star system,” studio bosses had total power over their stars in closed, controlled networks. The TV news has had a similar system: stars were pieces of networks. Without their jobs, they became largely invisible — until now.

SHINING HER OWN LIGHT — Megyn Kelly is showing a new way, rebuilding her own personal brand via social media combined with her own deep understanding of how to make national news.

Megyn’s unique talent always found viewers but (in her final months at both networks) she didn’t quite fit within the boundaries of Fox News or NBC. She didn’t “easily fit within a box’’ like a good corporate peg. Her personal brand is unique.
