Mimslyn Inn By Carlyn Anderson

Fascination with orange dancing flames

In old brick fireplace of this aged inn,

What wisdom might these flames reveal

In mesmerizing presence gazing at me.

Grand inn resplendent in past ages traditions

Having baby grand piano and poinsettias too,

Lobby bar and cabinets of fine walnut sheen

Paintings of people from inn’s historical past.

Formal dining room, sparkling crystal chandeliers,

Crisp white table cloths with full formal settings,

Palladian windows reaching out to the grounds,

Grounds manicured to gardener’s perfection.

Servers formally attired in black tie

Stepping back past formality traditions,

In present age of fast-casual desires

Glimpse of past grandeur rarely seen.
