Murphy’s Law Always Seems to Hit When My Husband Is Out of Town

Do you sometimes feel like you have to watch your booty because life’s about to bite you? Every time my husband is away for work, I’m positive Murphy’s Law is waiting for his absence to test my limits.

If you’re unfamiliar with Murphy’s Law, it’s the idea that:

“If anything can go wrong, it will go wrong, [and at the worst possible time].”

My husband left on a Wednesday, and was to be gone for the whole next week too — that’s ten days / nine nights.

No problem, the girls and I’ve got this. The kids are out of school, and our schedules have relaxed.

“It will be fun,” I said. “Don’t worry about a thing.”

Famous last words.

Fast-forward to the weekend before he was ready to leave.

While cuddled up with the kids watching a movie we collectively noticed it was feeling excessively warm.

When we checked the thermostat, it read over eighty degrees inside.

“Uh-oh, that can’t be good,” my husband and I said to each other.
