Last month, my fiancé’s family organized a one-week trip to Punta Cana to celebrate all three family birthdays together—my fiancé’s older brother, my mother-in-law’s, and mine.

Since I needed a break because I hadn’t had a vacation for a long time, I decided that this trip would be exclusively for resting, making progress on my pending readings, and not thinking about work at all. I didn’t even want to socialize much, so I took four books, and from the first day, I decided to find the perfect chill spot.

I spent a whole day just exploring every corner of the hotel and the beach, from the garden to the most hidden pool. Luckily for me, the resort we chose had a huge beach with many secret places to choose from.

By the end of the day, I knew that my favorite spot was a space on the beach surrounded by palm trees with a long chair on top of a small mound of sand.

Some pictures I took from my reading spot

I spent almost every morning there alone. I would wake up early, have breakfast, and then go there to read for a few hours alone. I loved how quiet and far away from everything it was and how no one…
