In life, we all find ourselves in those in-between moments — the spaces where we’re no longer where we were but haven’t quite arrived at what’s next. They’re the times that can feel like they’re pulling us apart, leaving us restless, unsure, and even vulnerable. Yet, these uncomfortable pauses often reveal the most about who we are.

In a culture that prizes movement, productivity, and achievement, these pauses can feel frustrating or even “wrong.” But in truth, these moments are doing essential work within us. They deepen our self-awareness, teach us patience, and help us build the strength to face life’s unknowns with courage.

The destination will come, but the person you’re becoming now is what will matter most when you arrive.

We had a surprise visitor this weekend. Our daughter surprised us by coming home for the weekend. She’s in an in-between stage of life, wrestling with many of these same thoughts.

On a broader scale, our nation is in an in-between moment, too. Tuesday is election day for those who haven’t voted early.

Many of us are holding our breath, waiting to see who the next President will be. And, after election day, what they promise. Then, we wait…
