Ocean Sunset

The great fiery ball drops in the west

Slowly descending into evening clouds,

Pure beauty in its nightly transition

From bright radiance to peaceful sleep.

Sunset reflected in the ocean surf

As shimmering light skims its surface,

Light slowly sinking beneath the waves

Accentuating whitecaps as they break.

With mighty sun’s great descent

A slivered moon now in the sky,

An ephemeral glow among the stars

As evening gently moves into night.

Another of nature’s mysteries beheld

In awe and gratitude for being here,

Reflecting on what all this means

And how it so routinely happens.

Beings struggle with many changes

So amazingly simple compared to this,

Is the difference an inherent harmony

Which beings seem to so easily resist?
