Resolve Not To Make Resolutions This Year
Give yourself the gift of a less stressed January
It’s that time of year again.
No, I don’t mean the holidays. The holidays are child’s play compared to what’s coming: January. Also known as “New Year’s resolutions” time.
Still reeling from Dry January last year? Not quite recovered from Veganuary, even though you only tried it through January 11?
You’re not alone. But this year, rather than making resolutions that you may or may not keep, why not just give yourself a 2025 pass?
Those who make resolutions are in the minority
First off, don’t even think about feeling guilty for considering stepping off the resolutions train. You won’t be alone; in a recent survey, YouGov found that only 31% of Americans plan to make resolutions or set new goals for 2025. Slightly more Australians plan to make new years’ resolutions, particularly health-related ones — a recent poll found that 45.9% of Australians would like to live a “healthier lifestyle” in 2025.
Although publications and Internet sites love stories about resolutions people will be making in the new year, it seems clear that not even a basic majority of people plan to take part in this tradition.
