Sometimes You Have To Turn The Other Cheek And Be Like Martin Luther King, Jr.

Social media conversations can help or hurt you

This morning, someone responded to one of my posts on Nextdoor. The person was rude if you ask me.

You see, I’m running for City Council where I live. I don’t want to spend a lot of money and try to budget and use my money effectively. Social media is free, and I have been taking advantage of it while still playing by the rules.

On the social media platform, Nextdoor, they don’t like political stuff, at least not too much.

After I made a post, a moderator told me no political posts, so I complied and took it down.

Without saying I’m running for office, I share pics of me engaging with the community. I have been posting pics when I meet local constituents.

On one post, a gentleman didn’t like when I said I met with a veteran and talked about the city.

On the previous day, I met with a couple who complained about issues with the animal shelter and the pushback they were getting.

In neither post did I say I was running for office. But some people already know since I posted the announcement on the site a week before.
