Soul Filled Empathy

Soul filled empathy for downtrodden
Struggling to survive one more day
Never knowing days of effortless ease,
So many strewn along these streets
Sitting on blankets, outstretched hands.

Many with nowhere else to go
Living on streets, ways of life,
Grates and doorways, where to sleep,
Haunted by ghosts of better years past…
