Taylor Swift Fatigue May Finally Be Setting In

Don’t retire “The Black Dog” song or edition just yet

We’ve had enough Swift to last us a while.

She’s in your face all the time. The constant saturation makes me want to shield my eyes and ears.

Not too long ago, we all experienced Covid fatigue. Remember the constant intake of information, statistics, and in-your-face coverage that plainly wore you the fuck out?

I feel the same about Taylor Swift, especially after her new release of The Tortured Poets Department. I feel like it’s just too much.

The New York Times published, then quickly took down a piece suggesting the same notion, but this one remains (at least for now):

“Four new studio albums. Four rerecorded albums, too. A $1 billion oxygen-sucking world tour with a concert movie to match. And, of course, one very high-profile relationship that spilled over into the Super Bowl.

For some, the constant deluge that has peaked in the past year is starting to add up to a new (and previously unthinkable) feeling: Taylor Swift fatigue.”

It gives me pause that the New York Times would take down a pop-culture piece as though it is controversial.
