Americans are the worst at taking vacations. Even with the vacation time they have, some don’t even use it to take time off.

USA Today published a story last year stating that Americans were the worst among 11 countries for not using their earned vacation time.

  • Americans take 11 days a year, which is the lowest
  • Half of Americans use their vacation time
  • People in Hong Kong took more time off than they worked

Studies show that taking a vacation provides many benefits.

Harvard Business Review stated:

“Taking a vacation provides greater opportunity for rest and better sleep (both quantity and quality), which can help unclutter your mind to create more mental space.”

Workplace stress has caused approximately 120,000 deaths per year in the U.S., according to OSHA.

Vacations can reduce burnout, according to The Penn Foundation.

This is a lot of facts and figures, and you’re probably thinking so what?
