Yuval Noah Harari is one of my favorite authors. He’s a professor of history at the University of Jerusalem and is also the author of Sapiens — a New York Times bestselling book.

In this article, I’ll share some of Yuval Noah Harari’s favorite books. All of them are fascinating and left me speechless. So, without further ado, let’s dive right in!

Enlightenment Now by Steven Pinker

“Steven Pinker extols the amazing achievements of modernity, and demonstrates that humankind has never been so peaceful, healthy and prosperous. It is the most optimistic book I’ve read in a long time.” — Yuval Noah Harari

I used to feel pessimistic about the future whenever I watched the news. I also felt anxious because so many horrifying events around the world were outside of my control.

But everything changed when I read Enlightenment Now. After all, it contains inspirational statistics about society improving. For example, there are 1 billion fewer people living below the International Poverty Line than in 1990. It’s also worth mentioning that child mortality rates have significantly decreased because of scientific research.
