The Path To A Healthy Life: Urinate Often
Not “going” regularly will impact your health
I still have a vivid memory of the time — several years ago — when I hopped in my car and drove to Jonesborough, Tenn., a seven-hour drive south, for the National Storytelling Festival, a bonanza of on-stage personal narratives.
Because I was so excited about the event — the granddaddy of storytelling slams — I drove straight through, with no bathroom breaks.
When I arrived at the lodging, where I would flop for the weekend, my bladder was like a geyser waiting to unleash a fury of unbridled power. As a natural sciences refresher, according to the National Geographic encyclopedia, your typical geyser comes with a kick:
“A geyser is a rare kind of hot spring that is under pressure and erupts, sending jets of water and steam into the air.” — National Geographic
With seven hours of pent-up energy in my bladder, I certainly felt like a geyser. Once I completed my obligatory bathroom visit, I was fine. But I was lucky, as you’ll see shortly.
