The Tragedy Of An Anxious Child

How we can help calm their fears.

Severe anxiety in my family spans three generations in my mother, myself and my daughter. When my mother was a child, the word “anxiety” barely existed in anyone’s vocabulary. The family called her “annoying Susie” because she’d get nervous and talk too much too fast, but I suspect they didn’t understand how she felt inside. I know because I’ve felt it my whole life.
