Self-confidence, an exemplary trait that shines wherever one goes. Wouldn’t it be convenient if we were all born with such characteristics? Too bad convenience is something that shouldn’t be depended or wished upon much.

Here are some techniques or actions that will unleash your hidden inner confidence. Everyone has self-confidence. You just need to let it out, and these effective ways are the catalyst to awakening your self-confidence.

Overcome Social Anxiety

We ranked this trait as #1 for obvious reasons. IF you can’t communicate then what is the whole point of self-confidence? Dr. Thomas A. Richards, Psychologist/Director of The Social Anxiety Institute, states,

” Social anxiety is the fear of being judged and evaluated negatively by other people, leading to feelings of inadequacy, inferiority, self-consciousness, embarrassment, humiliation, and depression. ”

Not just that, social anxiety is the most common illness that affects over 40 million Americans alone! No medication nor any antidote has the power to cure such illness. No, it lies deep within the mind. The best way to overcome social anxiety is none other than communication and putting yourself out there.

I too once feared social anxiety. But it kept me from enjoying life to its fullest. No, nothing will stand in my way of living, not even life itself.

One must accept rejection, ridicule, being laughed or made fun of, and the likes. That is the best way to defeat social anxiety.

Or would you rather be trap inside your very home wasting precious moments?

Pain is temporary. However, glory, glory is eternal. No one wants to communicate with someone that can’t talk or doesn’t know how to express themselves. The ONLY way to improve something is to practice it. Take it from a guy who’s been there and done that, me. Actions speak 1,000 times louder than words buddy.

Hit The Gym

There is no finer example than action itself. If you have no self-confidence then working out will give you some confidence or maybe a whole lot! Would you rather see a weak, puny, pathetic image or a fit, sexy, and strong image of yourself?

Maybe the very reason for your lack of self-confidence is your image.

Dr. Pulkit Sharma, Clinical Psychologist and Psychoanalytical Therapist at VIMHANS Hospital, Delhi explains that there is a correlation between exercising and confidence. Exercise has been known to help with depression, low self-esteem, reduce weight, increase blood circulation, boost confidence, and 100’s of other benefits. We already know that you know that working out is good for you, but until actions are applied, then you only have yourself to blame.

Eat Healthy Everyday

If you don’t think diet and confidence go hand in hand, then you are sadly mistaken.

Eating right has the ability to alter you mentally and physically to the core.

Research has found a direct link between healthy eating and self-confidence. Nutritionist-resource.org.uk says that certain foods have the ability to change our mood and emotions.

For example eating processed foods, artificial sweeteners, simple carbs, etc. will increase insulin levels, spike sugar levels, weight, and body fat, speed up the aging process, cause numerous health effects, and so on which can lower one’s confidence. On the contrary, eating healthy foods does the exact opposite! Must I really list out healthy foods?

I’m not making this up. People only hear what want they want to hear, not what needs to be heard, plus it’s all been researched and backed by years of studies. Can’t say I didn’t warn you.

4) Love Who You Are

Can one really express self-confidence if they lack self-love? NO, unless they are able to fake it. You’ve seen overweight, deform, and not so attractive people that express self-confidence because they love themselves, or have at least accepted who they are, haven’t you? I truly believe self-love is one of the biggest contributing factors to self-confidence.

When one loves themselves, they know themselves. Thus they are able to freely express their emotions, thoughts, and actions without hesitation or fault. There is no need for a 2nd mask or hiding behind lies. Tatiana Jerome, a writer, and entrepreneur has pointed out the gifts of realization with self-love. She said that when one is so in love with themselves: they will improve their physical experience, enhance their mental abilities, get in touch with their spiritual side, and become more interactive. Does this have anything to do with self-confidence, si senorita si.

Walk With A Purpose

What could possibly be so interesting on the floor, a $100 bill? Yeah, but what idiot drops a $100 bill? Ever been in the military? If not and you’re under 35 then you should. You eat, walk, sleep, train, shower, etc. with your head and shoulder up and square.

People can already tell 1/2 of your personality just by the way you walk.

There are lots of expressions and emotions that can be pointed out just from walking. This guide explains the steps on how to walk with confidence,

” Stand up normally, raise your toes a bit so that they don’t touch the ground with your head up and square, chest pointed out, and shoulders lockout. When you raise your toes, it forces you to stand upright, and your shoulders naturally lockout.”

Just by doing a simple action with your toes, one is able to go from zero to hero. This posture express authority, power, and of course confidence. Give it a go and see how you feel, then walk as if you got some back issue looking parallel to the ground. Now tell me which one feels better? My point, made!

Meditation

The answer to practically everything in life, meditation. I’ll be honest, 90% of my articles mention meditation as a cure to any life problems, and I do that for a logical reason. Meditating has 1000’s of benefits. I kid you not. Life is not entirely physical, in fact, one who has mastered meditation could say it is entirely mental (spiritual).

Answer this question only if you lack self-confidence. Do you believe you possess no or low self-confidence? (say yes) Ok, there you have it, you literally just answered your own problems. By admitting this, you have already surrender yourself to such negative thinking. Meditation does more than just help with lack of self-confidence. If you want to understand life as a whole, then learn how to meditate today, you will be transformed and renew!

Get Quality Rest

A well-rested mind and body can be a difference between day and night. Sleep is actually the #1 human necessity. The longest time someone went without food was 74 days, water was 18 days, and sleep for 11 days.

Good sleep has over 100 benefits pertaining to the mind, body, and spirit. Research published in the International Journal of Behavioural Medicine in 2013 states that those who slept 7–8 hours had more optimism, self-esteem, felt less anger and sadness as compare to those who slept 6 hours or less.

Pursue Your Dreams

Nothing is sexier and attractive than seeing someone fully devoted to achieving and working on their dreams. In order to do so, one must possess some extraordinary skills. Perseverance, dedication, hard working, patience, endurance, hardship, and the likes are just a few examples that one has developed naturally over the years when one is truly trying to achieve their goal(s).

You may think these are not characteristics of confidence but to others it surely is. I find people who work diligently toward their goals to be somewhat, “exalted.” Maybe your dream is none other than to build self-confidence. Then you have to apply some of the skills above in order to possess self-confidence.

When you find out that the realization of pursing your dream far exceeds the demands of building self-confidence, you will naturally become self-confidence. Let’s just say self-confidence is an extra skill that is automatically obtained when you achieve your goals or are working towards it. An example is when you work out what happens? You lose weight, get tone, become healthier, etc. So getting tone is the extra bonus/skill you acquired.

Get Rich

Becoming rich, that’s something everyone wishes for, but wishes are nothing more than empty dreams. Like pursuing your dreams (big dreams not small goals), getting rich requires some serious work ethic. You can talk all you want, nothing but pure action will show proof.

So how exactly does getting rich build self-confidence? Let’s see. When one is rich, they are able to afford whatever, go wherever, eat without worrying about the cost, know they are financially stable, live luxuriously, drink the best champagne, and be with anyone they choose to, and so forth. You can not argue that this is not a fine example of self-confidence. If that isn’t self-confidence, then I don’t know what is then.

Ingrid Wickelgren, the managing editor of Spectrum News, wrote a very well article on whether or not money can buy self-confidence, the answer shouldn’t surprise you one bit. Of course, if you’ve never bought a $50,000 Rolex, then you have nothing to worry about. Money can buy confidence, ask any wealthy person.

Having A Partner

You’ve seen it in movies where the nerd ends up with some hot guy/girl and what do you know, they become this radically transform being that is full of charisma, confidence, and attractiveness. Yes, it’s just a movie, but there’s a logical explanation behind that.

What better way than to ask real-life people. So as it seems, most answered yes that it did boost their self-confidence, while a very few said no or not really. Not only that, some even stated that their partners help them achieve confidence when they had none to start with. Also the hotter the partner, the greater the boost!

Be Positive

In life, you’re either a pessimistic or an optimistic, period. Those with no or low self-confidence, can you guess which class you belong under? My explanation may be of no use, however, this piece of work by the US National Library of Medicine and National Institutes of Health contains over 300 references!

After reading such detailed work, what are your thoughts? The pessimistic would argue no, while the optimistic would say otherwise. As stated in the article, of course, the pessimistic are like such because that is their nature. Be positive; you’ll get much further in life than any pessimistic can even dream of! Being positive will assist you in improving your self-confidence, being negative will bring nothing but harm.

Live Life To The Fullest

Being positive will aid you to live life to the fullest. Living life to the fullest means exactly what it means.

Enjoying and appreciating every single 37.2 trillion cells in your body and 675,000 hours on earth.

You can wisely assume that people who enjoy and love their life are more likely to be confident than not. No one can live life to the fullest if they have low self-confidence. Such characteristic will hinder one from reaching life’s true potential.

Depression, social anxiety, low self-esteem, etc. will damage your self-confidence negatively. There’s no possible way one can enjoy life fully with such illness. If you are not fully taking advantage of the beauty and luxury that life has to offer, then it is time to wake up. Stop existing and start living.

Do not fear death, fear living (or existing) with regrets and not having lived to your fullest.

Be Selfish

Being selfish, greedy, lustful, gluttonous, having vanity, anger problems, etc. are stereotypically considered bad and frown upon. They’re not at all. One can be selfish yet the most generous person. One may be the most lustful being yet has the gentlest of hearts.

Being selfish just means one thinks about themselves. That is quite a positive thing. Selfish people will put more care unto themselves, improve their weakness and faults. In fact, ever since I became selfish, I noticed positive transformations within my life and body. Stereotypes are nothing more than fabrications make up by men to hide behind their jealousy.

Eruptingmind.com, a place for intelligent minds and advice has to say this about selfishness,

” People who lack self-confidence often put the needs and favors of others before them. They do this to gain the acceptance and goodwill of others thus it makes them feel better about themselves.”

I honestly couldn’t have put that in better terms. Help people, volunteer, spread love and kindness but do it for yourself too. For the love of god, don’t do it for self empathy or acceptance!
