I never knew what adults used to mean when they said there was too much to do and too little time to do it.

Or the idea that time would pass as quickly as a blink of an eye, and all of a sudden everyone you know is changing and ageing around you.

As an only child, I had an abundance of time. The weeks would stretch on in a slow haze until a school holiday whilst my mum would be trying to balance working, looking after me, cooking, cleaning and a whole host of other things.

Time seemed to move in slow motion, and then suddenly, everything sped up once I hit the age of eighteen and was trying to balance studying, finding a job, and figuring out who I was.

Since then, it’s only been marching on and not allowing me the chance to take a deep breath.

I’m twenty six which feels old to me, but I have colleagues who sneer at this and tell me I’m so young. But you’re only as old as you feel, right?

I may be an eight-year-old adult and I don’t know whether that makes me young or old, but I do know that I’ve been tired for a very long time and have been struggling to balance everything — and well — life as an adult.
