Why I Stopped Worrying About Consequences
And started concentrating on now
When I was young, consequences were up there with the bogeyman.
I knew there would be ‘consequences’ if I did something wrong.
The few times I played the Truth or Consequence game as a teenager, I was never sure what was the biggest threat, being asked to tell the truth about something I’d rather keep hidden or go along with a dare the other game members came up with.
I didn’t realise how much time I spent worrying about what might happen instead of paying attention to what was happening now.
And when you live in consequences, every action is a landmine. Every angry word is the end, and every mistake is a catastrophe.
And if every action has consequences, it’s never going to be something you can avoid.
But you can avoid worrying about these consequences.
Every Day Consequences
How often do you imagine the consequences of what is happening?
If you get stuck in traffic or your train is late, you might worry that your boss will be angry or that you’ll be late for a meeting and people will be upset with you.
