Why It’s Dangerous To Use ChatGPT for Psychological Advice
Mental health help should not come from a soulless source.
Right now, I think that people have definitely lost their minds. The latest trend is asking AI to help them with their mental and psychological problems.
And it’s not just two or three guys I’ve seen with this practice; hundreds and hundreds of people every day have been switching from their psychologist to artificial intelligence because it’s a free (or cheaper) and more easily accessible option. The internet is filled with viral posts of people shamelessly saying they use it for advice.
And I can “get” why many people are switching. Mental health services are expensive. In the Dominican Republic, for example, one therapy session without insurance can cost $40 to $80. But the minimum wage here is $300. This means you’d have to spend almost a third of your salary to be able to talk to someone. And therapy is not usually just one session a month.
