How to work with us…

PULP Newsmagazine accepts tips, comments, photos and stories in various forms. We’re stronger with you as a partner, so send us a tip or an opinion or a photo. Our platforms are growing and our reach is expanding. Are you coming with us?

If you’re a freelancer

We accept pitches from freelancers who are serious about storytelling. Pitches must be well-researched ideas, complete ideas with potential sources, anticipated length, photo and graphic suggestions.

Our print news magazine, on stands each month, includes feature stories and photo essays that tell the stories of the region. We love profiles, news and culture features that go beyond the the ‘five Ws.’ We want stories that explain impact, explore the human condition as it relates to our readers and shows an unexamined idea, subject or issue. From band profiles to in-depth news features, pitches to PULP should be stories you won’t find anywhere else.

If you’re not familiar with the stories PULP does, please take a look around our website and pick up a copy of our paper. Send pitches to editor@pueblopulp.com with ‘article pitch’ in the subject.

Work with us on social media

Take over our Instagram: We want exceptional, talented photographers to share their work with our followers. You needn’t be a professional, just have great photos that tell a story.

Submit your photo essay of 5–10 photos that explore a topic in the region. Underground music venues? Great. The average week in a small town cafe? We’re into it. Include a title for your dispatch. Each photo should have a cutline.

We’re also going to need your Instagram handle to cross promote your work.

Instagram dispatches may translate into a feature in print, but is not guaranteed.

If you have an opinion or story idea

PULP Newsmagazine accepts opinion articles of topics that are of interest to our audience. This may be news, or culture or sports, but it must speak to an audience of 18–45 year-olds who live in Southern Colorado.

Upon submitting a piece, you agree to the following rules:

  • A submitted piece, while it may be of opinion in nature, must be factually true. The article cannot utilize untrue or false data. Articles will be proofread by an editor for grammar and fact-checking, if necessary.
  • Inappropriate content will not be tolerated. Don’t send us a slanderous opinion piece. Or pieces that promote or advocate violence, degrades another person on the basis of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, disability or any other classification. We won’t run them.
  • Opinion articles shall not violate any copyright or intellectual property laws.
  • The person submitting the piece must publish the piece with their name attached. We won’t publish anonymous opinions.

While submissions of any length will be considered by PULP Newsmagazine, effective articles will fall somewhere between 500 and 1,200 words. Any titles or subtitles submitted with the article are subject to change for effective web publishing.

Opinion submissions must be exclusive to PULP Newsmagazine. If an editor has not been in contact with you after five business days regarding the opinion piece, assume PULP will not publish the piece. Previously published articles will not be considered, no exceptions.

Please send submissions to editor@pueblopulp.com
