Donald Trump is considering a short list of names that could replace former FBI Director James Comey. Among the top choices is Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers.

But beyond the recommendation, confirmed by a tweet from Sen. Cory Garner, Suthers isn’t saying much.

“While I am honored to be listed as a possibility among some tremendous law enforcement professionals, at this point it would be premature to comment any further,” the mayor, and former Colorado Attorney General, said in a statement after the list was first initially published by Fox News.

Gardner retweeted the Fox News story saying, “Colorado’s John Suthers would be an excellent choice to lead the FBI. I recommended him to the WH & am excited to see his name on this list.”

According to White House officials, others on the list include:

Ray Kelly, the former and longest-serving New York City police commissioner
Mike Rogers, former House Intelligence Committee chairman and former FBI agent
Former Assistant Attorney General Alice Fisher
Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C.
Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, R-Texas
Paul Abbate, executive assistant director for the Criminal, Cyber, Response and Services Branch
Associate Judge of New York Court of Appeals Mike Garcia
Former federal appellate court Judge Michael Luttig, now executive vice president of Boeing
Larry Thompson, former deputy attorney general under President George W. Bush
Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe

Suthers is a lifelong Colorado Springs residnet. Before serving as attorney general for the state for 10 years, he was named by President George W. Bush in 2001 to be United States Attorney for Colorado and he was unanimously confirmed by the US Senate.
