The Internet erupted over the thousands of Democrat National Committee internal emails released by Wikileaks this weekend. The emails pointed to a bias toward Hillary Clinton as the presidential candidate, as many emails highlighted ways to undermine Bernie Sanders’ campaign.

But the only subject regarding Colorado politics was recent rain barrel legislation sponsored by Democrats Rep. Jessie Danielson of Wheat Ridge, Rep. Daneya Esgar of Pueblo and Sen. Mike Merrifield of Colorado Springs.

The lone Colorado politics email came to a DNC employee in the form of an update from the main sponsor, Danielson.

The rain barrels email is almost surprising given how popular Sanders has been in Colorado and his support of proposed policies such as ColoradoCare, a ballot initiative focused on creating universal healthcare in Colorado.

Sanders has indicated that he would be supportive of a universal healthcare model that’s medicaid-for-all.

Colorado, a battleground state, heavily favored Sanders in the March primary. In April, as expected, Sanders won 10 of Colorado’s delegate votes. Clinton had six.

Prior to the March primary the Colorado Independent pointed out the vast differences in the news conferences between the Democratic rivals. Clinton events at the Colorado State Capitol attracted a few powerful political leaders, while Sanders events were fuller and attracted voters rather than lawmakers.

Typing ‘Hickenlooper’ into the search box at the DNC Leak database on Wikileaks reveals the rain barrel email.

Other Colorado-related searches on the email leak database show articles that contain the word ‘Colorado’ but don’t focus specifically on the state’s policies, politics or regulations.
