Documenting the Pueblo workforce really takes you all over from a very specialized industry to sectors all communities have, such as education or healthcare.

A little over a year ago, PULP took a look at the diversity of Pueblo’s workforce. The photo essay was actually more of a testament to who makes the city run, not what jobs make the city run. So here is round two.

While Pueblo’s workforce is often pegged as factory jobs in a manufacturing economy, there’s a lot outside of that, too. ‘How We Work’ is a cross section of the jobs and lives that keep Pueblo going.

Left: Louie is the owner and operator of Aguilar’s Family Hair Styling in Pueblo West and on East 20th Street. Louie likes to take a break from the stress of running a business and spends some leisure time at the dog track. Center: Sebrina is a transplant and East High School alum. Sebrina works as a Stylist Extraordinaire for Root Republic on Santa Fe Ave. Right: Eva is transplant that moved to Pueblo about eight years ago and is the Director for the Pueblo Community Soup Kitchen. The Pueblo Community Soup Kitchen is non-profit that serves meals to people in need and is located off of West 7th Street.
Victoria is Senior at Pueblo West High School and works as a Boat Captain for the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk of Pueblo.
Left: Hailing from the Tuscan Coast in Italy, Otello or “Chef O” moved to pueblo for the slower pace of life and has been working as the Executive Chef for The Place located off Union along the Riverwalk for the last seven months. Right: Mathias is the owner of Last Leaf Printing and Design on Union Street. Mathias has been open for the last seven years and does commercial work for clients all over the world.
David has been with the Roselawn Funeral Home, Crematory and Cemetery for two years and is the Funeral Home Manager. David is a Pueblo native and attended East High School.
Ron is window washer for Ro-Ro Window Washing. Ron cleans many of the large windows found on the shop fronts on Union Ave in downtown Pueblo.
Left: Bill is South High graduate and the owner and photographer for Pro Action Foto. Bill also serves as the official CSU-Pueblo Athletics and District 60 sports photographer. Center: Sonny is a street performer that to Pueblo after the death of his wife and adult child. Sonny came to Pueblo for low cost of living and good weather. Right: Suzy works the concession stand at the Southern Colorado Gaming and Events Center located on Lake Ave.
Left :Crystal is a Pueblo Native and East High graduate and has been working at Southwest Grill as a server for eight years. Right: Rod is a Vietnam Veteran and owner of the Outer Limits Comic Book and Collectables shop on Santa Fe Blvd. Rod opened the store as way to keep busy during retirement and share his love of comics with the public.
