Tuileisu Anderson (32) leads the CSU-P Women’s Basketball in scoring this season as the CSU-P Thunderwolves are ranked 3rd in NCAA D2.

If it’s not Duke, CU, or UConn why should you care if the CSU-Pueblo Women’s Basketball team are having a season of a lifetime?

So here’s me saying, “take notice of this team with just 3 home games to go.” Tonight against Fort Lewis (5 p.m.), Tuesday against New Mexico Highlands (5:30 p.m.) and on February 18, Senior Night against Colorado Christian (5:30 p.m.). (It’s also like $5 to see a game, come on.)

The team is 22–0, and could be 24–0 after after this 3-game home stand. And with a few strong wins, they could break be ranked #2 or even #1 in the nation in NCAA D2 heading into the playoffs. They are sitting at 3.

Just like in every other sport, as the post-season nears, nerves get a little twitchy. But there’s no better cure for the stress of a perfect season then a loud and obnoxious hometown crowd.

If you go, (and you should) here’s a quick guide of the players to take notice of (there’s a lot of other great players:

Molly Rohrer (42) — tall, dominant center. She absolutely kills it in the low post. She can take over any game in the 4Q. If she gets going, she’s has shades of Kareem Abdul-Jabar and Patrick Ewing with her post play.

Tuileisu Anderson (32) — the sharpshooter, do not leave her open. Leading scorer for the Pack.

Katie Cunningham (5) —a tough, strong commander. She’s a little banged up but watch her play as a commanding point gaurd. She can organize the court with the best of them.(On Saturday’s game against Adams State, she played with her need being blue so ya that’s how tough she is.)

Jazymn Johnson (4) — If T. Anderson has a slow night, Johnson can come in and take over and the team doesn’t miss a thing.

Taylor Long (14) — A quick, fast little lightening bolt that gets to the basket.

And Coach Jim Turgeon — He leads a young team and one of the best in the country. All of which is scary seeing how good this 2016–17 team is.

One more thing about about Coach Turgeon — he is calm, collected and just has built a close group of women playing great basketball. You can feel a sense of how special this team is and just how proud he is of these players by looking how proud he is after they get a “W”.

Case in point, on Friday against Adams State in a blowout, Coach Turgeon pulls out Anderson because it’s a blowout. And as she hi-fives her teammates and sits down, coach walks over and without making eye-contact, he does a sly little fist bump, signaling “Yes, great job.” It was sublte but a powerful.

So, show up and show out. The CSU-Pueblo Women’s Thunderwolves are having a perfect season. They are ranked #3 in the nation. And they need Pueblo to see this run.
