What is it like to work at Pulselive?

Our User Research team are an integral part of the business here at Pulselive, contributing to the definition of both internal and fan-facing technology. The team are responsible for the planning and executing of large-scale research projects, ensuring users are at the centre of our product development process.

In this month’s People Podcast episode, we are speaking with Nathan O’Connor (User Researcher) about what attracted him to the role at Pulselive and some of the most exciting projects he’s been able to work on!

First things first, what does the role of User Researcher look like? User researchers contribute towards the optimal design of products so the products meet end user needs and expectations. They do this using both qualitative and qualitative research methods to ensure informed decision making where the behaviours and/or attitudes of users are represented throughout the design cycle.

At Pulselive, the team get the chance to work on some of the most exciting projects in the sports world! We get to conduct our research with sports fans from all over the globe which ensures we are catching fan demographics that are representative of each of our clients. It’s amazing to see first hand the passion people have for sports and how much it contributes to their lives! It makes the role of a User Research at Pulselive really worth while.

There are a few differences between academic research and user research and we explore this in the podcast. One of the top differences is the speed it can take to get to your result. Academia research is quite slow, taking months and sometimes years to get something across the line. Whereas in user research, a project can be proposed, designed and executed all within the space of 2 weeks!

We’re in the process of writing a more detailed article on the differences between the two types of research which will be published on Pulselive’s Medium channel -so keep your eyes peeled!

At Pulselive, we’re a team of highly talented and engaged creatives, engineers, product managers and researchers that create experiences that sports fans can’t live without and our User Research team is a massive contribution to that!
