6 Sources on Radiohead’s

“Daydreaming”

1. Chris DeVille noted that Paul Thomas Anderson — notable film director — collaborated with guitarist Jonny Greenwood. On “Daydreaming,” DeVille said, “The song is an absolutely gorgeous six-minute piano ballad, and the video (as teased this morning) makes Thom Yorke walking into something visually stunning” (Stereogum). 2. Daniel Kreps said, “’Daydreaming’ is the sonic inverse of the band’s recently released single ‘Burn the Witch,’ using a glacial Jonny Greenwood score and ambient keys to anchor Yorke’s vocals” (RollingStone). Click HERE to read Kreps’ piece.

3. David Renshaw said, “Radiohead’s long-time visual collaborator Stanley Donwood said earlier this year (March) that he has heard the band’s new album, describing the LP as ‘a work of art’…” (NME). Click HERE to read his review.

4. Alex Young and Michelle Geslani said, “[‘Daydreaming’] all culminates in a strange and strangely satisfying closing scene by a fire. Meanwhile, the song — a sparse, slow-moving, and poignant number led by piano — makes for a perfect soundtrack to the visual. ’It’s too late, the damage is done,’ Yorke can be heardmourning” (CoS). 5. Amy Phillips and Jazz Monroe addressed the indecipherable bit at the end of the video, they said, “When the audio is isolated, reversed, and sped up, it appears he says something like ‘every minute, half of my love’” (Pitchfork). 6. Jamie Milton said, “It feels like [Radiohead have] been saving their most devastatingly beautiful moment until now. Sod the eight albums that existed before. Every speck of ‘Daydreaming’ is emotionally-driven, from barely-there atmospherics to the simplest, roundabout piano line Thom Yorke’s delivered in years” (DIY). Click HERE to read the full article.
