When you’re running a business, sometimes you need to keep things classy. And these art deco cards by Stacey Hsi definitely do just that. They offer our customers a sophisticated way to congratulate, thank and celebrate their clients, especially if they are using our new web-based platform, Punkpost Projects.

Her new collection, called Art Deco, has a flair for the 1920s, but also combines in her love of subtle colors, architecture and geometry. “I think most of my designs are modern enough to appeal to a bold and trendy customer, yet the soft colors and textures can draw in a more traditional customer,” she says. That basically makes these cards perfect for anyone in your address book.

The final designs you see here started as sketchy, and eventually made their way on to her laptop. “I can work anywhere, as long as I have my laptop with me,” she says. Eventually, she’ll pass along 2–6 ideas to the client (in this case Punkpost) and refine until the design looks just right.

She didn’t just pick up a pen and start creating cards, though almost. Stacey has always drawn, and went to school for architecture and creative writing. Then, a job at the university press led to her first design job. Now, she’s been in the stationery world specifically for more than three years. “Being surrounded by card designs every day, I guess it was only natural that I began to create card designs myself.”

Regardless of the customer, Stacey loves creating happy cards, especially ones for kids. But she also has a knack for creating joyous cards for a mature audience, such as this Art Deco Collection.

Her favorite of the collection—so far— is this thank you card. “I hope that I’ll create many more cards for Punkpost, so my favorite might change in the future!” Stacey says.

Stacey Hsi designs and writes cards from her home in Richmond, California.

When she’s not designing cards late at night, you’ll find her knitting, dyeing, spinning, crocheting with yarn. Her mischievous cat, Pica (pronounced Pika as in Pikachu) joins in on the fun any time he can. Oh, and you might also find her writing your Punkpost card. That’s right, Stacey is also one of our amazing handwriting artists.
