Meet Kelly Gregor. She’s a Handwriting Artist who joined the team in November 2017.

She also loves Halloween, so we knew she needed to be a part of our 2018 Halloween Collection. “Best Witches,” “You’re Spooktacular,” “Bonejour” and “Happy Halloween Ya Little Monster” were all drawn by Kelly and you can see them here, above and below.

Her talents are limited to Halloween, even though it’s her favorite time of the year to write Punkpost cards. She also has designs in our Summer Camp collection.

When she’s not drawing ghosts and cute little monsters, Kelly is enjoying the Pacific Northwest with her husband and 2-year-old son. She loves to garden, both inside and outside, and has about 40 house plants. Call us impressed! As if being a human and plant parent wasn’t enough, she also has a soft spot for animals, especially cats.

Luckily, she still has time to create and has delighted thousands of people with her snail mail work. But when it comes down to it, this gifted doodler really enjoys the stamp part of mail. “There are so many designs — new and old —that can be used to go with the theme of the card,” she says. “A good stamp can really make a piece of mail.”

Now that you know a little about her, let’s look at the handlettered cards she created for customers this past year.

Aloha: She brings the tropical vibes of Hawaii to this exciting thank you card. This one is Kelly’s fave because of the colors, layout and the Monstera-inspired plant leaves.

Precious penguins: You start reading and admiring the letters, but then you get to the bottom, and just go “Ahhh.” How cute are her penguins?!?

Get well soon: We all get sick and have bad days, but a card like this is sure to brighten anyone’s mood.

Purrfect: Her love of cats comes in handy for our feline-obsessed customers. (But really, you all love cats!)

Professional and fun: Kelly’s favorite colors come together again to create the most delightful thank you card anyone could every receive.

Kind request: A little bird told us we’re missing something and can’t complete your order, or at least that’s the case when Kelly is your handwriting artist. She created this proper bird to help inform customers that we need them to reach out to us.

Fast facts about Kelly:

  • Location: Kent, Washington
  • When she’s not writing cards: She’s working for a large healthcare system on the West Coast as a contract and pricing analyst. She also volunteers for the Union Gospel Mission to help women and children in need. When she’s not working on helping others, she’s out exploring and camping in the Pacific Northwest.
  • Writing background: She’s been drawing since first grade. Then, in third grade, she won her first art show with a pastel drawing of a tulip. Her lettering career took off in middle school when she started passing notes and signing yearbooks with full-page layouts and messages.
  • Go-to doodles: Star, though she really likes to come up with something different for every card.
  • Favorite writing utensil: Pentel Sign brush tip pens.
  • Favorite colors to use in cards: Pink, yellow and orange.
  • Favorite stamps: Her favorite stamps are the Harry Potter stamps, then Janis Joplin, and then the Venus Fly traps.
  • Favorite cards to write: Halloween. My most favorite things to draw are pretty weird and mostly only fit with a Halloween motif. I love to draw eyeballs, bats, monsters, anthropomorphic characters and more.”

Next, she sketches out the doodles and leaves space for the message. She finishes off her art with black ink, erases the pencils marks and writes the message. If needed, she comes back in and adds color.
  • Cards written (so far): 897
  • Skill building: “I use Punkpost as an avenue to stay ‘in shape,’ and for developing my skills, I try to participate in as many online challenges as I can. My favorite challenge is lead by Mab Graves on Instagram every October and it is called Mabs Drawlloween Club.”
