Meet Stacey Hsi. She’s a Handwriting Artist who joined the team in April 2017.

During that time, she has written thousands of cards and designed an Art Deco card collection that you can find on our app or web-based platform.

Beyond that, Stacey is also a photo editing wizard, and helps us make sure our images are looking great, like this one here of her “Thank You” card.

When she’s not busy with Punkpost, she’s working in San Francisco helping people style their art and doing freelance graphic design work.

She grew up in the East Bay, travelled off to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for college, and returned to California. Back in California, she lives with her sister and cat, Pica(sso), in the East Bay. (If you haven’t see our Instagram story about Stacey yet, you’re missing out on some Pica cuteness.)

But enough chit chat, you’ve got to see Stacey’s awesome drawing and lettering skills. Here are just a few of her favorite assignments from the past year:

Pizza my heart: As if the bunny and lion weren’t cute enough, the pizza banner takes the card to the next level.

Hey, babe: This couple took it to the next level with a next level card by the oh-so-talented Stacey. Plus, she used a stash of her vintage postage stamps for the envelope.

Pretty puppy: Stacey can draw banners like nobody’s business. That plus the cute pup make the sweetest little bundle.

Snail mail, literally: If you know SpongeBob characters, you know Stacey nailed the drawing of Gary at the bottom of this elegant message.

Special pup requests: Customers sometimes give us very specific requests, and Stacey is always up for the challenge. “She was so specific with her requests and I think it turned out really well!”

Creative freedom: While you can make specific requests, many of our artists, including Stacey, love the chance to be creative and create you something fun and unexpected, like this silly monster.

Fast facts about Stacey:

  • Location: Richmond, California
  • When she’s not writing cards: She’s napping, knitting, watching anime, or hiking with friends and fam.
  • Writing background: She’s been drawing most of her life, but started lettering in 2017 after watching her former co-worker practice her script next to her at work. Who is this co-worker you ask? Oh, you know her. It’s Candy, another Punkpost Handwriting Artist.
  • Go-to doodles: Banners for sweet cards, cakes for birthday cards and a pair of cute eyes for any card that says “See you soon!”
  • Favorite writing utensil: Sakura Pigma Micron PN, which stands for plastic nib
  • Favorite stamps: Mineral Heritage collection. They are vintage and are worth 10 cents each.
  • Favorite cards to write: She likes cards with specific memories and details in the message because then she has a hint of what to draw. She also love writing cards in Asian languages, such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Thai.
  • Workspace: At her desk in her bedroom.
  • Favorite background noise: Silence. “Writing the cards takes my full concentration. Even if people are talking around me, I tend to make mistakes in the message.”
  • Favorite time to write: Between 8 p.m. and midnight.
  • Writing process: “I usually don’t plan much, and just go for it!” She starts by writing out the message, and then fills in the rest of the space with doodles, if they requested them or picked the sweet style.
  • Cards written (so far): 1,500+
  • Skill building: Writing cards makes sure she practices daily, which helps build lettering and drawing skills. She also likes to make art digitally and uses a drawing tablet for that.
