All it takes was just a single beep for me to get my phone.

Merry Christmas, the message says.

Along with a sticker of ugly Santa Claus.

A message so short and so perfectly timed every year.

I counted all the messages that came throughout 2018.

One for the birthday.

One for the Chinese New Year.

One for the Christmas.

Is it possible, to get less and less and less until I get nothing?

Not even the messages, the slight vibration, and the red blinking light that comes with it.

If one day I get nothing, maybe then I’ll reread the messages.

But what good will it do?
