With Americans’ significant dependence on foreign countries for raw materials and gases, Mung Chiang, Purdue executive vice president for strategic initiatives and the John A. Edwardson Dean of the College of Engineering, says there is an urgent need to build and equip U.S. semiconductor manufacturing factories. In a recent Forbes article, he showcases how Purdue is anticipating the future need for trained engineers in this field by offering a new master’s degree in semiconductors and microelectronics, as well as an undergraduate minor and several online certificates.
