U.S. News: ‘Tech Knowledge Is Power’

Earlier this year in a piece penned for U.S. News and World Report, Dean Mung Chiang emphasized the importance of familiarizing oneself with the technology they use on a regular basis. Not so much in terms of how to utilize it or what it does for us as individuals in the moment, but more so how it works and what that means for the direction of society as a whole. In a sense, the greater public would be better served if it learned to “speak engineering” a bit more. Otherwise, he warned, we risk being unaware of the threats, dangers, and overall negative impact that these technologies pose.
