A new tool in PR

Two words- Tik Tok.

In short, Tik Tok is a social video-sharing app. The content on the app ranges anywhere from comedy to cooking to music to art and more.

Tik Tok is one of the most popular apps in the world right now and many companies have taken to the app in order to connect with younger generations. Nearly half of Tik Tok users are between the ages of 16 and 24; so, this gives companies the perfect platform to connect with this generation. With that being said, there is a multitude of ways that an organization could benefit from being on Tik Tok, for example:

  1. It’s free advertising
  2. Organizations can gain exposure to audiences that they may not have otherwise been able to reach
  3. The exposure of the organization has never been easier or quicker
  4. Tik Tok videos trend and go viral all the time, thus, if an organization were to hop on a popular Tik Tok trend, their post would likely be part of the trend as well, gaining more eyes on the company

For example, Chipotle has over 50,000 fans on Tik Tok, and they use the app in order to highlight or promote certain menu items. The popular restaurant chain has utilized popular trending song on Tik Tok, Adele’s “Someone Like You” to create a silly video promoting their chips and guacamole. I think that this was very smart on their part because 1. they found a way to connect their organization to a popular trend, guaranteeing maximum exposure and 2. they were also to get easy, free advertising for their restaurant.

This example is just one of many ways that an organization could utilize this app to their benefit.
