Eelye, so powerful and majestic, described only as the pure perfection. She couldn’t be seen, only created by the image of our minds and expressed by our thoughts. Her hair was long and green, so vivid and clear, as were her eyes, shinier than the sun. Such a presence was always the dream of those who prayed for perfection.

After witnessing entire lifes wasted, entire generations destroyed, she finally had the desire to see The Plains, a possibility only she had, freely. She was born, or perhaps created, many centuries ago, before humanity could walk or swim in this realm. She was not a living creature, nor a goddess, she was energy, pure and light, she had no meaning to exist but to live in everyone’s body. Some could feel her presence, when pure of heart and peaceful of mind, no ambition, only the thought of thinking and living, but for others… she didn’t exist. When the hope is lost and nothing but rage or destructive energy comes, she was just… nothing.

Eelye came to The Plains, flying from the blue sky, so blue it was confusing for her, thinking if she came from the sea or flying through. In this place, the sun and the moon traded places every twenty four hours, so it could be fair to both, shining as brightly as possible, bringing life and dispelling darkness. There was a single cloud, made for her, delivering her to this beautiful realm. She could see everything, so green, so clear. So, she flew from the cloud, slowly, not to hurt any blade of grass, calmly landing in her feet. The moment she set foot, she was mesmerized by the feeling of the grass, so soft yet sharp at the same time. The animals here felt no pain or anger. The wind blew, singing as if it were meant to be there and deserved to fly. There were no trees or animals lying around or running, only grass, the wind, the sun, and the moon, imparting powerful colors to this canvas, this painting that gave meaning to this place. It could only be described as “this place” for no Man had ever seen it, and no one deserved to. No anger, remorse, feelings of vengeance, or desires for war, theft, or ambition could take place here. The grass, the wind, the sun, and the moon ruled, and they wouldn’t allow otherwise.

In The Plains, there was only one path, unchanging, made of stone, uniform, with no mistakes in its creation. Its purpose was unknown to everyone, just a rumor among those who thought about this place. It wasn’t meant to be thought about, it was meant to be walked upon.

Eelye began to walk, slowly at first, feeling the wind caress her face and body as she bathed in the sun’s rays. Peacefully, she heard nothing but the wind’s song. Her feet touched the stone path, hot but not annoyingly so, comfortable, as if it were infusing her body with energy, peace, and pleasure. The walk felt natural, she no longer thought about walking. It felt like an automated machine, guided by small workers who knew precisely what to do. Minutes felt like hours, and hours felt like days, the magic of The Plains operated outside the conventional realm.

One hour passed by, and perhaps years for some, Eelye saw someone, an old man she didn’t recognize, someone who knew everyone. She felt confused, her mind couldn’t recognize his appearance or his energy. She kept walking, the old man still far away, gradually approaching, but he didn’t look ahead, only down, trusting the path. Eventually, Eelye reached him, and to her surprise, the old man spoke first:

Why are you walking so slowly? — said the old man, with a voice deeper than the darkest caverns, now looking into her eyes — run, fast, try it! It’s even better! But be careful not to fall, they won’t forgive it.

In a matter of seconds, her body moved autonomously, and she saw glimpses of light emanating from her legs. Then, she started running, fast, so fast that the wind grew jealous but also happy, finally having something that could keep up with it. Happiness filled her eyes so much that tears started to drop, and the wind cleared her face so she could see. The old man had just forged a perfect connection between two souls.

Thank you for reading this short story.

I don’t have a schedule with what I publish, short stories or thoughts.

I just write what I want when I want it. Trying to alternate between both.

I only hope you like what I write and feel what I try to share, my own mind.

Thank you!
