The Worst/Best Day of Herschell Ostrepeller’s Life
You can accomplish a lot in life, but some things are much more important than others
Herschell Ostrepeller knew Debbie Litvin for years. They had met at his first job post University. He was an Account Executive for a thriving alternative newspaper and she was an entertainment writer. She covered the music scene and spent most of her nights reviewing shows at local Toronto bars and clubs.
Debbie had a great sense of humour and was a fun person to interact with. Herschell asked her out a couple of times, but she politely turned him down. She explained she liked him, but he wasn’t her type. She just wanted to be friends with no strings attached. She liked guys who were ‘’on the scene’’ and he was kind of conservative. She made no bones about it, she liked Action Jackson types and he was a Dudley Do Right.
After the first year passed at ‘’Reality Toronto’’, Herschell was recruited by The Globe & Mail, Canada’s National Newspaper to be a National Account Executive dealing with Ad Agencies. It was a huge jump in salary and the benefits were amazing, so he wished the alternative paper adios and wished Debbie well and left the paper.
