12 Masturbation Techniques

What do 2000 women have in common? Many things, of course, 12 masturbation techniques included.
I’m totally not a fun of the “how-to” or “the top 5 ways to” approach when it comes to sex, because sex is way more than just a performance and, most importantly, there is not magic formula that will work with anybody. When it comes to sex, there is a whole world of sensations to discover rather than instructions to put in place.

But 12 techniques are definitely a wide enough range of possibilities to not be classified into the “instruction manual” approach, plus the goal of the all thing is to make women talking about masturbation and sharing ideas on how they do it.
Few years ago the first biggest research on female pleasure, with a focus on masturbation, has been done by Kinsey Institute and Indiana University. (Thank God someone finally did it!) It’s from that research that the OMGYES project was born.

I’m quite sure you’ve heard about them before, it’s a platform where women share videos about masturbation techniques and encourage the conversation about female pleasure (practice is very recommended too, of course!). It’s a one-time subscription and the website is very clean, female positive and shows women of all age and kind.

The researchers find out that all the various, amazing, creative and effective masturbation techniques women were using had many movements, concepts and goals in common and they could be gather together into 12 groups. There were not even common terms to name a specific movement or technique yet! Female masturbation has been, and still is, such a taboo topic that even in science or in everyday life we have no names to identify a specific way to please ourselves! Finally all of that has come to an end.

FYI the most used techniques, which based on OMGYES classification are used by 8 or 9 women out of 10, are:
- Rhythm, almost a musical loop of motions
- Framing, how pleasure is mostly between the ears
- Orbiting, million ways to circling the clit
- Signaling, giving and reading feedbacks.
I invite you to go on their website and check all the others!

I love OMGYES because it’s opening up the conversation about female masturbation, giving women a great and comfortable way to inspire themselves and to experiment how to find pleasure in different ways. If I had a daughter (especially if I live in a place where modern sex education is not thought in schools), I’d definitely subscribe and give her the access.

Recently a friend of mine asked me “Why should I care about 12 different ways to masturbate if I know one does the job? It’s kind of a miracle if I find time to please myself these days”. That’s a great point! If you are not a young woman discovering her body, why should you change something that works and it’s also probably quick, pleasurable and great? What’s the plus of OMGYES then?

It’s extremely important we force ourselves to discover our sexuality more because what we like today will definitely change in the future.
No one says you have to like all the 12 ways, of course! But our bodies change not only when we age, but also, for example, when we are menstruating, our hormones do, even our mood influences our sex life and taste. It’s so important we don’t get our body used to just one kind of stimulation because it’ll tend to respond to just that one and when we change, it won’t work the same. (I chat about this also with Alix Fox in my last article). OMGYES can help us being creative in training our body and pleasure no matter our age (women in the study are 18 to 95!).

So to celebrate the end of MasturbationMonth I want to say to all women stay curious, don’t be ashamed of pleasure, discover your body and your emotions, share them.

And if you are curious to know what OMGYES Series 2 will be about, I have a spoiler for you: internal stimulation, squirting and double stimulation are the topics of next season!!

Let’s spread the conversation about pleasure.
