When was the last time you googled something interesting, but incredibly random? What about things you’ve always been curious about, but just haven’t gotten around to exploring?

Purple Theory is an attempt to continue and celebrate that basic spirit of inquiry, that often gets lost as we grow older or get busier.

Purple Theory explores diverse topics — life, psychology, travel, the mind, math, science, space, nature, Pokemon — no topic is too random. If you have any suggestions, feel free to pop them in the comments below. Chances are that almost any topic will send me down a super long rabbit hole. If I can find my way back out, maybe I’ll end up making a post about it!

The name purple Purple Theory is based on a simple thought experiment, which you can read more about here. In essence, it comes down to this: for the next few days, try observing the color purple in your surroundings. There’s a good chance that you’ll suddenly start seeing a LOT of purple in your life, at least more than what you estimated. It’s not because there was a sudden increase of it, it’s just that you started noticing it more. And this applies to almost anything, including a new country you came across, a new investment scheme you heard about, or a new topic you discovered. And the blog attempts to do just that — explore topics that might be extremely fascinating but we’ve just never thought deeply about. For example, figuring our how vending machines end up killing more people than sharks do every year or being blow away by the crazy randomness of card shuffling!

If you’d like to get notified about new posts, consider joining the mailing list. I try to make it as non-annoying as possible :)

Again, welcome to Purple Theory!
