Self-Deception: The Phenomenon Behind So Many Issues Today

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that yesterday there was another mass shooting occurring in America. In Highland Park, during a 4th of July parade, a mass shooter came in. Six dead and 24 people are injured.

It’s infuriating that this continues to pass time and again and nothing seems to change. The shooter was arrested but it’s not a shock that the shooter was a white man either. Even so, the same people are no doubt going to be issuing the same talking points time and again even though they are worn down and we know it’s bullshit.

It’s at a point where people who think thoughts and prayers are enough are only lying to themselves.

This incident — self-deception — isn’t the only instance of this. There have been several prominent cases in the past where this has happened.

You have Elizabeth Holmes, the biotech entrepreneur who people were quick to declare her as the youngest and richest self-made female billionaire. She’s now facing 20 years in prison for fraud.
