The commercial case for purpose is overwhelming. There is no better way to build customer loyalty, inspire employees, attract aligned investment and open up new horizons of growth and innovation.

But a truly effective organisational purpose can’t simply be rolled out from the top down. It’s vital to develop your purpose in a way that brings your people with you from the start. Get this right, and your purpose will be translated into tangible action and problem-solving across every pillar of your business.

Our programme for co-creating a clear and compelling organisational purpose will help ensure that people across your business truly take ownership of your purpose, and thus bring their full talents and enthusiasm to delivering awesome competitive advantage.

How it works

This is a bespoke, in-depth programme of co-creation that unfolds over a three to six month horizon, according to the needs of your organisation.

We start by digging into your organisation’s history and DNA to uncover its founding myths, landmark achievements and original reasons to exist. Then we engage with your customers, employees and key partners to get a crystal clear picture of what your organisation and brand means to people today.

From there, we convene an internal change-making team that reflects your company’s full range of skills, talents and perspectives. Through a combination of experiential learning and management consultancy techniques such as SWOT and PESTLE analysis, we expose your team to fresh stimuli and guide you to co-create a truly meaningful purpose that will power your organisation’s future.

We work with you to craft a compelling purpose statement and a roadmap for future success, with a special focus on the values, behaviours and capabilities that you will need to fully capture ‘purposeful advantage’. Together, we identify the strategic opportunities around product development, market positioning, and sales propositions that will deliver your purpose and sharpen your commercial advantage.

Outputs

At the end of the process, you’ll have:

  • A clearly articulated, co-created purpose statement
  • A set of three audacious goals and a roadmap to take you from your purpose statement to action
  • A business needs scorecard identifying any gaps in the capabilities needed to realise your purpose
  • A clear sense of the values and behaviours that will support your mission
  • A picture of the big strategic opportunities your purpose can unlock

Duration

3–6 month programme.
