Often, a business can be clear on its purpose but not clear on how to deliver it. Once you’ve defined your “why”, it’s time to take a good look at your “how” — the values and behaviours that will bring your purpose to life.

This programme of work analyses your organisation’s values, culture and capabilities to determine whether your culture is fit for purpose, and then plots a way forward through a collaborative workshop.

How it works

The programme starts with a Cultural Values Assessment. This simple survey tool, developed by the Barrett Values Centre and used by over 6000 organisations worldwide, uncovers and analyses which values your employees prize personally, which values they are currently experiencing within the organisation and which values they believe would drive high performance.

This cultural assessment is complemented by an audit of the organisation’s capabilities, helping you understand where your strengths currently lie and where you must become stronger.

We hold a focused working session to share findings from the assessments. In this session, we help your team agree a common view of which are the most important values for driving purpose-led transformation and giving you commercial advantage, and express these in a few concise “how” statements that set out what values look like in practice (far more memorable and powerful than generic, one-word values).

Crucially, we then establish a clear plan of action for fostering the right behaviours across the business and bridging capability gaps.

Outputs

At the end of session, you’ll have:

  • A values and behaviours framework
  • Three to five “how” statements
  • A simple-to-understand internal narrative or manifesto setting out “the way we do things here”: bringing your values to life for your employees and aligning them clearly with your purpose
  • A business needs scorecard
