Purse & bcoin in 2018
Last year was quite the wild ride. While the technology and cryptospace saw some mind-bending milestones, we also live in a world where 2 billion individuals remain unbanked, or worse, must watch their hard-earned money rapidly inflate. Corruption grips many governments, big and small, and steals opportunity from millions of creative, bright and passionate minds.
Here at Purse, we think this is the perfect time of year to step back and reaffirm why we’re here. Whether you’ve spent months (years?) supporting Bitcoin, Ethereum or popular competitor, we think we’re all in the same boat. Cryptocurrency as a whole offers a promise we should all share together: We’re building a better, more inclusive world, where anyone can contribute value to their community without unnecessary permission or fear. The future we all need looks a lot like the future crypto will provide.
That’s why this year at Purse we’re focusing our attention on three ways we can help build experiences that can accelerate a more equitable future for all.

Newcomers
Welcome to our strange timeline! We know things are a little weird here in cryptoland, but don’t lose hope! Thousands of dedicated crypto enthusiasts have helped build a $500+ billion dollar industry because they share a common dream; that dream is yours now too.
Last year, we launched a new version of our website with many new resources for our latest adopters. We’ve developed partnerships with exchanges around the globe, built entire new pages dedicated to understanding Bitcoin and created fresh marketing messages to help bring more people into the crypto fold. This year, we’ll be laser focused on melding our marketing messages with the promise of crypto and how it can empower millions towards savings.
Infrastructure
While we’ve gleefully enjoyed being called a menace, let’s be real, bcoin is a seriously advanced implementation of Bitcoin that’s trusted by top developers writing production code for enterprise. With 95% of websites already using JavaScript, and its immense popularity across the entire stack, bcoin will continue to be one of the most robust solutions for anyone looking to weave blockchain tech into their product fabric.
In 2018, bcoin will focus on growing their talented team and continuing to develop an ecosystem of tools & resources. Expect some big announcements this Spring, as we’ll be adding a splash of color very soon.
Mainstream Purse
Last year, crypto went crazy. Bitcoin became a household word, Coinbase became a top downloaded app and someone in your family tried to get you to buy shitcoins. There’s a lot of excitement around the potential of cryptocurrency in mainstream, and with this comes an opportunity for top players to cross the divide and help make crypto useful for the next generation of adopters.
Purse in 2018 will be made for this next wave. Last year, we saved shoppers over $2M ; we aim to double that this year. So we’ll all be working hard to build an experience that defines how a mainstream crypto product should function. In our pipeline, we’ve got some serious upgrades coming that will significantly evolve how simple it is to use Purse. Throughout this year, you’ll see new tools for Earners, more rewarding gamification, buttery-smooth UI upgrades, clever load optimizations, and even crispy-fried memes.
